HANSON: A Week to Celebrate

May 09, 2025 | Hanson

This week is the official week of Hanson Day, May 6th. We know that there would be no 30 year career without your support and engagement all over the world, and the history of this gathering really amplifies this message. Back in 1997 our states governor marked May 6th as Hanson Day, and we were honored by this special recognition. As the following year came around we heard stories and news of fans gathering all over the world and in our home town to celebrate this day once again, marking it like a special birthday or anniversary. Hearing more about these gatherings was awesome because what we witnessed was something beyond simply gathering to talk about a band or an interest, we saw the growth of a community.

Today is also the 25th anniversary of the release of This Time Around, Wow! This album has remained to be a pivotal album from the songs that it contains which helped shape the story and vision of our band and also the deeper connections with so many fans who came out to that first TTA tour. This is a week to celebrate.

The impetus to finally host the HDay celebration WITH You was motivated by all the stories of these ongoing meet ups, community relationships, road trips and the opportunity to help amplify the great connection not just between our music and many music fans. Most importantly, each time we gather we see the connection between you to one another and the shared experiences that we have all shared throughout this musical ride.

For all who have gathered, shared, traveled or spread the love, thank you for making this annual day (and our gathering in Tulsa) a special reflection of the special gift of music and how it brings us all together!

Happy Hanson Day (and see you in a couple weeks in Tulsa).

Thanks For Listening

Isaac, Taylor and Zac

TTA was definitely a pivotal album in many respects, but I didn't realize just how pivotal it was until you talked about it in recent interviews — along with all the issues with the label.

So grateful that you didn't listen to those around you (label execs) and that you continued to pave your own independent way forward. Thank you so much for bringing us all together and for continually playing your hearts out! 😭❤️

Wow, 25 years for TTA! That album is very special to me. After we all survived Y2K, what a treat it was to have a new Hanson album! You guys were older and the sound was incredible. I listened to TTA in order from start to end today. AMAZING! See y’all in a couple weeks in Tulsa 🤎🤎

The This Time Around album formed my favourite night of the 5 of 5 concert series, which I didn't see at the time, but I have the DVD set. Maybe that's something to watch tonight.

Why does TTA turning 25 make me feel older than MON turning 28?! Either way, super thankful to have loved this music and this band for nearly 30 years. 💚❤️💙

Amazing - 25 years later and still listening! I love the balance of rock songs and ballads on TTA. Can't wait to hear this and more at HDAY

This Time Around turning 25… That was, and always will be, a special album and a pivotal timeframe in Hanson history. It’s fun to look back at being a part of that experience, and the one that came before it. Those were some memorable, good times for our family and so many others whose kids were too young to travel or attend concerts on their own. I sincerely hope the legacy continues…

I had way too much trouble ranking the songs on TTA on that IG story post which goes to show that this album was truly a masterpiece timeless classic.

And here’s a lil back story: I only briefly liked Hanson in 2000 when that album came out. I actually didn’t know much until I stumbled upon the Fillmore show playing repetitively on direct tv (which we had as part of our satellite dish—and rare for other canadians around me). I remember thinking “what????? they’re back!!!!!???? and they’re hotter?????” and then I proceeded to watch that concert in all my free time at whatever part it was on until it went off the air. Of course I ended up buying the album and liking them for a bit that year… but then my 14/15 year old self got distracted by other boy bands (2000-01 was all about nsync, ya know) and by 2001-02 in came my wannabe punk phase with sum 41, avril, etc… and I’d say throughout those years I was absolutely NOT a hanson fan. I grew up in a pretty small city—big enough to have cliques but not so big that everyone kinda knew everyone and word got around. A lot of people even back in 97/98 didn’t think Hanson was cool… so by 2000-02 and as a HS freshman? Hell no. 😮‍💨😒🙄

ANYWAY. one random day near the end of 2002 our family friends from out of town were visiting for the weekend and their daughter and I were close in age and we both used to be obsessed with Hanson in 97/98. Neither of us really liked Hanson much around then and ~assumed they fell off the radar. I mean, yall kinda did because of the Und album making process and that ###, Jeff Fenster 🤡😡. But then we started talking about them and so I whipped out the TTA album and played it.

when runaway run came on we both were like “WAIT THIS SONG IS AMAZING” and then we played it on repeat that morning basically until her family left. Then I went on the internet and looked up Hanson, found Hansonline (the old net), joined instantly, pretty soon became obsessed once again and put Hanson in my number one band spot, aaaaand have never looked back once. And here we are. 🤣😅😅😅😅

So anyway. runaway run was naturally tied for my top song. 😘 this time around is the other… choosing between those is diabolical because I like them for diff reasons—runaway run for the melody, TTA more for the brilliant freakin lyrics.

And then when I went to the SF Fillmore show in 2007 on the walk tour I was of course nostalgic AF because I thought “if I never stumbled upon that Fillmore special on direct tv, would I even be a fan??????????”
I mean maybe I would have found Hanson again in another way. But maybe not??? THE TERROR.
