Didn't even know there was a Jurassic Park The book - always loved the movies!

Last night in between shows I for the International Food And Wine festival at Epcot I finished the last few chapters of Jurassic Park. Even though I read the book over a few weeks time, I read 90% of the book in just two days. It was a real page-turner for me as you might have guessed. Being a big fan of the movies, and particularly Sam Neill’s Dr. Grant it makes sense that I would like the book. Reading Jurassic Park had some un intentional funny moments because technology has changed so much since the book was written, but overall it has held up really well. I enjoyed that the book helped me fill in some of the things that always bugged me about the movies like “why were there only 10 people on the whole island?” or “why wouldn’t the tyrannosaurus be able to see you if you stopped moving?” but it also added bigger questions about how the story of the second book will unfold. One of my favorite things about the book was getting to experience more human moments, moments that showed bravery and fear. I should say I didn’t find the book to be scary, but I could see how one might get goose bumps if they were reading it on a tropical vacation… so save this one for a winter read. As you read the final pages of Jurassic Park you will feel almost required to read the second book in the series, so I will probably take a few weeks off and then follow the books queue and pick up a copy of The Lost World. That’s all for now.

We saw the movie in the theaters when it was re-released not long ago. It reminded me how much I loved it! Good for you for finishing such a "dinosaur" of a book ;)

I read Jurassic Park in my AG English class in 8th grade. Sci-fi and the like is generally not my thing and I'm not gonna lie, I was NOT looking forward to it. But once I opened it, I couldn't put it down! I found it SO much better than the movie. But it's been so long ago now, I might decide to revisit it sometime soon. Glad you loved it!

Michael Crichton is a brilliant author, totally recommend the last two novels I've read of his "Prey" and "Micro". Pretty much all of his books are based on fact and fringe science. :)

This brings back memories! I remember this boy I used to babysit and he loved Jurassic Park and would make me read a chapter to him before he would go to sleep. I never did read the whole book though.

I would like to thank you Zac. I love the movie and I never really thought about reading the book! After your previous blog about reading it, I went straight to the Library and picked it up (Along with another Crichton book). I must say, you made a great choice as the book was awesome!

I read Jurassic Park for my freshman biology class in high school. It's great book. I like that it definitely raises questions about ethics and how far is too far in the name science. Never got around the to the second book though. My 'to read' list is never ending but maybe someday I'll squeeze it end. And for those asking the book came first, and it is better :)

That's next on my reading list after I finish the SNL book (Live From New York). Such a huge fan of the movies, I can't believe it's taken be so long to get to reading the original material! So pumped for the next movie in 2015.

I'm a huge fan of the Jurassic Park Trilogy movies, and ironically I have the first book (and should say have had it for many years), but never got around to reading it over. Might have given me some inspiration to give it a go next chance I get.
