If you don't already know, For Honor is a new video game that came out a few weeks ago. It is a fantasy mashup that pits Vikings, Midevil Knights, and Samuri Warriors together on the same continent at the same time in history.
The whole game is based around an ingenius adaptation of Rock, Paper, Scissors where players face off trying to block or make attacks by matching or doing the oposite stance as their opponent. The combat is simple, but addictive, and when you do land a killing blow, it is extraordinarily gratifying. One on one combat is where the game shines, but even after my comrades have perished and I find myself in combat against two or three opponents, I can't help but enjoy my own terror as I flee in search of a choke point to force my enemy to bunch so I can try to fight them one by one and return balence to the scales.
For Honor is all about multiplayer. You choose to fight on behalf of one of the three factions (Vikings, Knights, Samuri) in a veriety of game modes such as Duel, Brawl and Deathmatch (1vs1, 2vs2, 4vs4) as well as Dominion (Think Zone Control) and a few more in similer themes. Ubisoft attempts to give players a reason to return everyday by displaying a battle field overlayed with faction icons and colors that change each day to simulate the victories players are tallying up in their factions honor. Though it would not be enough on it's own to keep me playing, I do like the idea that every battle I win or lose will have a bigger result that might affect the feel of the greater game.
For Honor also has a single player campaign, and while not the most compelling it is still a welcome addition to round out the game's offering. In a gaming landscape that puts more and more focus on huge comunity experiences, it can be nice to play a game that you can still pause (you can't pause an online match). The biggest draw of the single player game is not in its timeless story, or unexpected plot, but really in learning each hero class and acquiring special items to make your perfered warrior look that much more bad A.
For Honor is a great combination of intense online combat mixed with the best Dynasty Warriors game you have played in years. It manages to bring an ingenius michanic to the gaming world that will likely me repeated many times over in games to come. If you are looking for something new to play, it is worth a once over.

I can't even with video games today. This morning when I was getting ready for the day I kept hearing random piano music. I was home alone as the kids had already gone to school. When I finally got up the courage to see if there was a ghost playing an invisible piano in my basement, I found my son had left his video game on and turned up just loud enough to freak me out this morning.

Well dang, nevermind. Went to tell my husband about your review and how the game looks pretty sweet and turns out he was a Beta Tester for it so he already has it. :) ... He is wondering if you're able to get on the servers because he's been having a heck of a time lately.

It's been a long time since I've played a game that wasn't a cartoony type of animated game. Are the graphics seriously that lifelike now?

YEAH WHOO GAMERS REPRESENT! Also, I recommend the video game Loadout. It's kind of inappropriate at parts so just make sure your kids aren't in the room. Haha but I'm a kid so... But it's seriously quite fun.

I know nothing about video games...except old school Sonic the Hedge Hog...(and NHL 97...) But that's besides the point. Thank you for your reviews as it allows me to connect to my students who are into video games...I can at least sound like I have a bit of knowledge in the subject.

Ah yes, my husband is into this. Pretty much if there is a new game release rated MA, he's all over it. Right now he is really into Final Fantasy....something (75? Doesn't it feel like it should be number 75?!) Anyway, very cool.

I asked my husband about it and he already bought it for xbox one. He's on the Vikings team. I may play with him sometime and I'll give you my opinion. It's definitely sparked my interest since I've been playing World of Warcraft with him.
