Taking A Little Break

Jun 16, 2020 | HANSON

We are officially finished with “Continental Breakfast” recording. Seven songs finished, and all that is left to do is wait for mastering next week. We hope you have been enjoying all the videos from the making of we have been posting, we are very happy with how the EP has come together, and we can’t wait to share the finished EP ASAP.

When one door closes another opens, so as the EP has been winding to a close testing has been winding up, and this week a select group of members started poking on the new hanson.net design. With all that is going on with H.net behind the scenes we are going to take a little break from posting new CBIB videos after today, to put our focus squarely on the task of the new site, but we plan to start back up with more videos next week after the site maintenance that is scheduled for the 22nd and 23rd of this month.

Thank you for being a part of the community.

I genuinely hope you take a little of this break to reflect on the community you've built, and what's been going on within it these past few weeks. I used to love singing along to "are you listening?!", and I genuinely hope that you have been.

of course you are. seem to be running hard with "ignore it"

Posted Jun 18, 2020   09:27:28 AM

omg, if you read the "break" they are taking is a break from posting videos so they can focus on the new website

can you please not hijack this post too?

@TheWanderer how can you call yourself a fan?? I have never seen anyone so critical and quick to judge. So maybe the guys aren't going to say or do what you want. Oh well, deal with it or leave!!

I'm sorry, "deal with it or leave" regarding a 23yo investment is absurd. If you're not happy seeing people call attention to something that should have long since been addressed, you can easily continue scrolling. There is a LOT of nuance here that is being ignored.

Posted Jun 18, 2020   10:58:31 AM

yes but there are so many threads about it already, it's kinda hard to continue to scroll when every single post turns into a conversation about the same thing

I'm sorry he's not answering you guys and you aren't getting what you want from him but please stop now.... not everybody wants to read this anymore and constantly talk about it

My point exactly @melissa82686 you can't force someone to do something. Hanson is never going to make EVERYONE happy. Everyone single thread turns into her bitching bc she wants them to do something they are obviously not going to do. So get over it or leave, those are really your only 2 choices

I second what Joanne said. Hopefully they are taking this time to listen.

To those complaining about having to see this call to action. Sorry you are tired of seeing it believe me we are just as tired of having it, if not more so. I’m going to borrow a quote Lisa posted on another thread. “I don’t know how to explain to you that you should care about other people.” Instead of calling out those taking a stand to protect others, how about you choose to be an ally and use your voice to call in the three men who can actually stop this.

And to those who are brave enough to take a stand and push for accountability to make this a better and safer space for ALL people you are the kind of fans I want to be surrounded with. Way to be the change this world needs!!

Shannon, that’s a very dismissive attitude. Like it or get out? Nice to know how welcoming the “community” is being.

I have seen some crisis in this fan club over 20 years with people falling out with each other and the band about all sorts of things .... but I don't think I have ever been sadder than right now when it seems that unless we all agree with each other or all assent to a particular way of looking at and expressing things, this fan club isn't a safe place to be.

I have rarely, if ever, been harsh in my judgements of others here, even when I seriously disagree with them. And after 63 years of living on this cruel and beautiful earth, taking my own share of bullying as a child, fighting for women's rights on the front line, campaigning on a stage for nuclear disarmament, choosing only to have one child so as not to drain this world's resources and giving a portion of my income every month to help end poverty for the last 40 years of my life, I can guarantee that I disagree with much I have seen and heard here over time.

But today I am terribly sad, that genuinely lovely people feel that unless we all agree, this cannot be a safe space.

I would quote from a book that I have read and Isaac has reviewed ... That between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is a choice and in our choice is freedom".

I really do hope that we can, just as we do when we meet in person, sit in the space between stimulus and response and find some understanding that brings peace.

@shannon

i can call myself a fan because i love the music? i didnt realize that being a fan was blind worship. im not here for that

Posted Jun 18, 2020   01:25:04 PM

@smashpatrick agreed agreed! It's been really nice to find a group that is likeminded....this a community for all of us...we won't always agree...but telling us to just like it or get out is troubling.  Being a fan doesn't mean you have to like everything, agree with everything or just follow blindly as Kaitlin said.  Those of us standing up and speaking what we need to, are echoing the words that the music has always told us.  I truly do hope they take a break to listen and hear those of us who are only trying to make this community of fans a better place for all....not just the ones who have chosen to ignore it.

And honestly...if you are that bothered by it...just scroll past it...continuing to engage and tell us you don't like it is only causing more replies from us.

"Bullying occurs when a person is "exposed, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions on the part of one or more other persons", and that negative actions occur "when a person intentionally inflicts injury or discomfort upon another person, through physical contact, through words or in other ways". Individual bullying is usually characterized by a person behaving in a certain way to gain power over another person"
