HANSON: New Theories Across Europe and Back Again

Jan 29, 2026 | Hanson

This week we are thinking about the amazing tours and times in the UK and also the epic projects we have shared. Few projects challenged us more and opened up new avenues like the String Theory project and tour and it was also one that we were grateful to be able to bring to the UK.

As a rock 'n' roll band you have a fairly tight circle of collaboration. Your sound is defined by those players, and the band you build. With our symphony project we found ourselves with totally different players and conductors throughout  the tours. Even when we had a consistent orchestra on a few shows or a conductor with us across a leg of the tour, the dynamic was never the same with any performance.

Our first major tour took us to the UK with the legendary Wembley Arena show, but whether we have played the Festival Hall with orchestras or a two night stand at Shepherds Bush Empire we always look forward to coming back to the UK with the rock 'n' roll circus.

Yet again this matches up with my Instagram “song of the day” because today it was “Reaching for the Sky” so I shared a few stories about String Theory! I use a spinner so the songs are completely random. Follow me on Instagram (mdtroxy) for the fun!

The UK String Theory tour marked a pivotal moment in my life. Words cannot begin to describe how that week had such an incredible impact on my life going forward. I was lucky enough to be there for every UK show and I had my first meet and greet with the band in Manchester Bridgewater Hall.

I became friends with my best friend that week and just two weeks later, we found ourselves experiencing the String Theory Sydney Opera House show #2 together. What a bucket list dream come true! The road has never stopped for us since.. we’ve travelled the width and breadth of the UK many times since, for the RGB & Busted shows;  plus to Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro and New York together since to see the band in concert. I hope those travels together in pursuit of Hanson shows, continue long into the future, wherever the destination may be.
