Der Kinder-Refrain von "MMMBop" versüßte den Sommer 1997. Nur die Hanson-Brüder aus Tulsa, Oklahoma, waren darüber unglücklich. Es hatte lange gedauert bis sich Zachary, Isaac und Taylor von ihrem Hit soweit emanzipierten, dass sie wieder glücklich wurden. Denn ihnen ist das geglückt, was bislang vielleicht nur Robbie Williams geschafft hat: weg com Teenie-Image - und hin zu einem ernsthaften Indie-Alternative-Act. "Underneath" ihr drittes Album, begeister mit süßsaurem, melancholischen Songwriter-Pop und sauber gesetzen Arrangements: "Wir waren einfach zu anständig erzogen für den permanenten Fan Beschiss. Ich war elf, als "MMMBop" erfolgreich war, und dementsprechend früh desillusioniert." Heute sorgt das Geschwistertrio in den USA mit "Underneath wieder für Euphorie: "Für uns ist es so, als wäre Hanson noch einmal wiedergeboren."

I was eleven when "MMMBop" was successful and was therefore disillusioned very young."
