Hanson brothers are back on track

AFTER a four-year break, Oklahoma trio Hanson have returned.

Coming back into the pop world with new single Penny and Me, Hanson are set to do just as well as they did eight years ago.

When the three brothers hit the music scene in 1997, people had no idea how successful they would be.

Isaac, Taylor and Zac released their first album, Middle of Nowhere, in 1997 and it flung them into stardom.

The album sold eight million copies and it was from this album that the group had their first hit, MmmBop. They received three Grammys in 1998 for the addictive MmmBop, including Record of the Year, Best New Artist and Best New Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals.

In 2000, the three brothers brought out their second album, This Time Round. Although it sold a million copies worldwide, it was considered a disappointment by the public after the success of Middle of Nowhere.

But that didn't discourage their league of loyal fans. They continued to follow their heroes through thick and thin and eagerly awaited the band's return in four years' time. 2004 saw the group release their third album, Underneath.

After the criticism that their previous album got, the Hanson brothers decided to spend a considerable amount of time recording - three years, in fact. When they were satisfied they released Penny and Me, and have now decided to embark on another world tour.

Hanson play the Manchester Academy on Friday, March 25. Tickets are £17.50 and are available on 0161 275 2930 or online at www.manchesteracademy.net
