The boys grow: Hanson returns with an album and a show.

A decade ago they were a worldwide hit with their teen rock. Then one night, after a five-year silence they returned with an album, a tour, and a show at the Gran Rex on March 18.

It doesn’t take much nostalgia to remember the fury that surrounded Hanson about ten years ago. Back then the young North American band struck it big: between their discs Middle of Nowhere and This Time Around they sold more than 12 million copies worldwide. Following it they were away from stages for five years.

Slowly, in 2004, Hanson began Operation Return. First came their album Underneath. And now the guys are going for more: playing in Mexico, continuing on to Brazil and Argentina then only to continue traveling through Europe. It’s a return desiring to take out all the stops.

But this time around there is a big difference: distant are the glory days of teen fury, now they record on an independent label. During a conference in Mexico’s Federal District, Zac, one of the members of the group, explained it: “Now we want to think that being independent will be an opportunity for us and also for other bands, as we intend to help other groups.”

Brothers Isaac, Taylor, and Zac are in Aztec country to perform their newly recorded material. It will be a preamble to their concert in Buenos Aires, the latter taking place on Friday the 18th, 9:30pm at the Gran Rex.

Earlier, in the conference, they stated that the time they’ve spent behind the scenes made them stronger. They said they’ve learned to appreciate freedom, because now their fans don’t have to wait for a transnational label to decide where and when the trio will sing; now it only depends on them.

They pointed out that instead of a large group representing their material, as it was before, now they have a small collection of passionate and active personnel, who are beyond comparison to what they had before. Now they aren’t just focused on sales.

On this return, the band assured that when they began to make music it was for the love of it. They feel very proud of the success they’ve had in the past eight years and what they are achieving now. Their re-launching has them very happy.

Los chicos crecen: Hanson vuelve con disco y show

Una década atrás fueron un suceso en todo el mundo con su rock teen. Después llegaron cinco años de silencio. Y una noche volvieron: disco, gira y una actuación en el Gran Rex, el 18 de marzo.

No hay que ser demasiado memorioso para recordar el furor que marcaron los Hanson hace diez años atrás. En aquel momento la bandita norteamericana la rompió: entre sus discos Middle of Nowhere y This Time Around vendió más de 12 millones de copias en todo el mundo. Y después se alejó de los escenarios por 5 años.

Lentamente, en 2004 Hanson comenzó el Operativo Regreso. Primero fue con el disco Underneath. Y ahora los muchachos van por más: tocan en México, seguirán en Brasil y Argentina para continuar viaje por Europa. Un regreso que quiere ser a toda orquesta.

Hay una gran diferencia: lejos de los tiempos gloriosos de furor teen, ahora graban con sello independiente. En una conferencia en el D.F. mexicano, Zac, uno de los integrantes del grupo, lo explicó: “Ahora queremos pensar en que ser independientes será una oportunidad para nosotros y también para otras bandas, porque existe la intención ayudar a otros grupos".

Los hermanos Isaac, Taylor y Zac están en el país azteca para presentar su nuevo material discográfico. Será el preámbulo de su concierto en Buenos Aires, que se hará el viernes 18, a las 21.30, en el Gran Rex. A años luz de aquellas alocadas épocas de furor total, nos visitan por tercera vez.

Antes, en la conferencia, manifestaron que este tiempo que estuvieron fuera de los escenarios los hizo fuertes. Dijeron que aprendieron a apreciar la libertad, porque ahora sus seguidores no tienen que esperar a que alguna discográfica trasnacional determine cuándo o qué cantará el trío, sino que ya depende de ellos.

Puntualizaron que en vez de un grupo grande ocupándose de su material, como ocurría antes, tienen a un pequeño conjunto de gente apasionada y muy activa, que en nada se compara con la que tenían anteriormente, ya que no sólo se piensa en las ventas.

Sobre este retorno, la banda aseguró que cuando comenzó a hacer música fue por amor, que se sienten orgullosos del éxito durante ocho años y que lo que lograron ahora, con su relanzamiento, también los tiene felices.
