Take a walk with Hanson

Apr 07, 2008 |

Hanson walks barefoot so others don’t have to. Now you can join in their effort to raise money to fight poverty and AIDS in Africa.

“We want to inspire others to look for simple, tangible ways to make a difference. It is easy to be halted by the great hurdles of poverty and AIDS, but making an impact can begin as simply as giving someone a pair of shoes, or buying a song,” Taylor Hanson said.
In conjunction with their concert Wednesday at the La Crosse Center, the Hanson brothers will lead a barefoot walk in La Crosse.

The Walk is an event where people walk a mile barefoot to publicly demonstrate how many children in the world live without basic things such as shoes. Fans can buy a pair of TOMS shoes at the walk or from www.tomsshoes.com.

The shoes are $45 and come with a download card for a free song from the band. And each time somebody buys a pair of shoes, a pair is donated to a child in Africa.

Wednesday’s walk will begin at 2:30 p.m. in front of the La Crosse Center. Walkers are encouraged to bring video cameras and film the walk along the way. The videos then can be sent to the band and some will be posted online. They’ll also edit some together to include in new episodes of the “Taking The Walk” podcast. Send your walk videos to youtube@3cgrecords.com.
