Hanson - We are like a marriage of creative minds

- Your fans have grown up at the same time as you?

Taylor: We have always made music about life, and now is easier to hook up with us because we are in our twenties and because our last album - Underneath (3CG, 2004) definitely is a big progression for Hanson

- Is this the best album you guys have done?

Taylor: Right now, I think is the best album.
Isaac: There are a lot of tracks that could have been singles.

- Have you guys suffered some criticisms because you are three young brothers who became successful musicians?

Zac: Well, keep in mind the existence of other brother bands such as The Bee Gees, AC/DC, Oasis and The Beach Boys, I think the prejudices are exceeded.
Isaac: I feel good knowing that Bono (U2) says "Mmmbop" was great. I'm happy with the Grammy nominations and also with selling millions of albums. If this is a problem they can kiss my ***. We have our own record label, and we don't only release our own albums, we can also help other bands to find their audience. For three years we were trying to create an album with people that didn't know the difference between a pop chorus and a guitar chorus. We worked with a dude to whom we sent a demo for a song, and he told us to fix the guitars, and accidentaly we sent him the same demo. He thanked us for the changes. Those were the kind of people we worked with. Idiots. No offense. The only thing we are looking for is people who understand how to make albums. This is what every band deserves.

- But..shouldn't this be the work for the producer?
Taylor: Yes, but it is the whole team. We had a big impact with our first album and it is so strange to arrive to a lot of people with the weight of that success. That's why I'm so happy with this album, because we have worked with people that really understand where this is going on. Even so, we will always talk about Mmmbop and about all our albums during all our career, because you can not forget the past.

- How was the colaboration with Matthew Sweet and Greg Alexander - New Radicals- on the album?

Taylor: we had friends in common and we thought it would be interesting. With Matthew everything was so fluid and the song "Underneath" came out in a very short period of time.
Isaac: We went out for dinner one time and the next day we already had the song written. I think all starts with an element of mutual respect. If you sit and talk with another artist, immediately you can know if the collaboration is going to work out or not, even if is from differents kinds. With Matthew it worked so well.
Taylor: Is hard to find people that you can connect with so fast, Is right that with Matthew it worked so well. With Greg we spent a few days working on a lot of ideas and finally we put ourselves in depth for the melody of the song "Lost without each other", is like classic rock "n" roll .

- Like youth idols that you were, Have you thought about the influence that you can have been giving out to bands like Busted?

Taylor: We have been thinking about it. Evidently the dynamic of the band is similar because we also are three.
Zac: The main difference between Hanson and Busted is that they act as if they played their instruments.. and we actually play them.
Isaac: We feel like we are more close to Maroon 5. Also they are very close friends.
Taylor: Something really exciting for me is seeing Michelle Branch coming towards you and say we have inspired her music

- How is your relation as a band?
Isaac: Is good. As good as it can be expected. Evidently we have our moments.
Taylor: I think that even when we fight we always recover our conection. We have respect to each other. Then there's something to understand of Hanson, the differents tastes of each member is what goes into the sound of the band. We are individuals, but we work as a band.
Isaac: in the same way as Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen -U2- are, they work as a group. We aren't such as brothers and dudes of a band. You don't know how easy is work with them. We've been 13 years playing together. I would say we are like a marriage of creative minds
