IT’S hard for any band to be so linked with one particular song – especially at such a tender age – but it’s something Hanson have learnt to live with.

Nearly a decade after the Tulsa trio broke, and with the release of their third album Underneath imminent on their own label 3CG, they’re finally heading for Manchester – on an acoustic tour no less – and when City Life caught up with Isaac, he had plenty to say.

“You know, we’ve never been to Manchester” he gushes, still only 22, “but we’re just excited as it’s our first extensive tour in six years.”

Was part of the reason for this the time it’s taken to get their latest album off the ground?

“Sure, we spent two and a half years making our second album (This Time Around), because of a lack of synergy with our inherited label – the label we’d signed to (Mercury) didn’t exist anymore, it’d become Island/Def Jam.”

So was this why there was no touring?

“Yeah, we tried to keep the momentum in the US – and continued to write music - but you reach a point were it just doesn’t work.”
