Hanson walk for charity in Richmond

Oct 10, 2007 |

The afternoon walk -- to raise awareness of poverty and HIV-AIDS in Africa -- will begin at Toad's Place, 140 Virginia St., and follow the Canal Walk.

All proceeds from Hanson's song, "The Walk," go to the Perinatal HIV Unit at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, South Africa.

The group is back on the road after the eldest Hanson brother, Isaac, was hospitalized last week and diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. The condition causes pain, numbness and susceptibility to blood clots.

The trio will perform at Toad's Place about 10:10 this evening. Opening bands You Guys Are Girls and Locksley and are expected to perform about 8:15 and 9:15 p.m., respectively.

As of yesterday, tickets were still available to tonight's show, although general manager Jeff Sadler said a few fans were lined up at the general-admission venue as early as 9 a.m. yesterday.
