THE cold nights are upon us - and oh, how I do love my electric blanket!

Ever since we put the clocks back the other week, I no longer want to go out after hours. A cosy night in is rather appealing these days.

But spare a thought for my new American friends.

We might find Scottish Novembers cold, but they're dressing like Eskimos while they're here.

My new American friends - and I use the term loosely - are Hanson.

Yes, those three cute brothers from 10 years ago who've put the MmmBop into practically every pop song ever since.

Isaac, 22, Taylor, 20, and Zac, 17, are Hanson - and indeed handsome.

The boys have turned out well - tall, articulate and friendly, with whiter-than-white Bee Gees-style smiles.

To my surprise, they eagerly chatted about their early days in the music biz, and about MmmBop.

"We still love that song," said Isaac.

"Hey, that was such a good song for us, and our fans always want to hear it when we are doing a gig!"

When I asked what they've been up to for the past 10 years, they cheekily answered: "Have a look at our website, Hanson.net. It tells you everything you need to know."

I had coffee with the boys on Monday morning, after which they invited me to their sold-out gig at King Tut's that night.

Forsaking my usual winter routine of a cosy nights in, I went to see them in action and, in the words of Sharon Osborne, they were "fabulous".

I could barely move for fans waving their hands in the air at a spectacularly cramped venue.

The boys performed their new single, Penny and Me, and tracks from their latest album, Underneath. Both are released next year and the boys are doing a mini-tour to showcase their new material.
