My May Concerts:
Good Charlotte/New Found Glory & Avril Lavigne/Simple Plan
By: Kickboxin5

Music has become a big part of my life, so recently, I've been trying to go to as many concerts as possible. Over the past two or so years, I've been to 31 concerts. But May was a special concert month for me; I got to see two incredible concerts, with four of my favorite bands, and some new groups that turned out to be awesome as well.

The first concert of the month was Good Charlotte and New Found Glory on May 2nd. I am a huge fan of both bands, so I was really excited to go see them. Luckily, my friends and I had pit tickets, so we were REALLY close! The night started off with a band called Hot Rod Circuit; they were okay I guess - I didn't really pay much attention to their performance because I was way too excited for GC and NFG. The next band that came on was Less Than Jake; they were INCREDIBLE! This was my first time really hearing them, but let me tell you, they put on a really good show! They don't just have the normal guitar, bass, and drums in their band, they also have different horns like the sax and the trombone, which make their sound very unique. Finally, the moment I had been waiting for....NEW FOUND GLORY! This was my third time seeing them live, and as always, they put on an excellent live show. They did all of their hits like "My Friend's Over You", "Hit or Miss", and "Head On Collision", and also some songs off their old and new albums. I think they did about 11 or so songs total (I'd name them all, but this would be a long review), but overall, I loved their performance. The guys in NFG are so animated, and they make the show really enjoyable. Last, but not least, Good Charlotte came on. Now this was my second time seeing them, and in my opinion, they were SO much better this time than last time. They did their hits too like "The Little Things", "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous", and "The Anthem", as well as a few old songs, and a lot of new songs. I love their old album, and I was so happy when they played my favorite song "Motivate Me". I was also happy when I got one of their guitar pics! Overall, their performance was awesome as well. If you were to ask me who I liked the best, I'd say New Found Glory, just because they are an awesome band, and they've been one of my favorites for a while.

Moving on, the latest concert I attended this month was Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan (May 17th). Wow, I am a HUGE fan of both, so I was also really excited for this concert. We had pit for this concert too, so we went down REALLY early to get a good spot. Going down early was worth it though because my friends and I wandered to the tour buses, and we got to chat briefly with some of the guys in Simple Plan (who are really nice by the way!). Finally, when we were allowed inside, the real fun began. The first opening act was a band called Gob, which was really awesome! I got their setlist when they were done (if you wanna know the songs they played, feel free to ask me - again, I dont want to make this review too lengthy). Oh yeah, and since this was the last date in Avril's tour, the show was very chaotic. During Gob's last song, Simple Plan and Avril and her band came running out on the stage, singing along with Gob, and just having a good time (I got great pictures!). After Gob was finished, Simple Plan came on - this was my first time seeing them live, and I was not dissapointed - they put on a great show. They did their hits "I'd Do Anything", "Im Just a Kid", and "Addicted", as well as some other songs off their album (my favorite was "Perfect"). If you dont have their album, you should get it - its awesome. During their last song, Avril and her band came out and started pushing over their instruments, making it hard for them to finish the song (but they managed) - it was hilarious! I definitely wouldn't mind seeing them in concert again. The last act of the night was, of course, Avril Lavigne. Before I went to her concert, many people told me she was terrible live. To those people - you were totally off; Avril was GREAT live. And of course, she did her hits too like "Sk8er Boi", "Complicated", "Im With You", and "Losing Grip". Avril even did a cover of Green Day's "Basketcase" which was totally awesome because im a huge Green Day fan. The best part of her performance was when both the members of Simple Plan and Gob came running out on stage in their boxers! They were running around, dancing on stage, and having a good time (Avril even pulled down the drummer's boxers from Simple Plan...LOL). That was one concert I will never forget!

In conclusion, May has been a great concert month. I look forward to my concert adventures in the future, but I know that my last two concerts have been some of the best shows i've been to (they rank high up there with my Hanson concerts and my Billy Joel concerts). If anyone out there has a chance to see any of these bands, i'd say go for it! You won't be dissapointed!
