Concert Previews

Hanson may well be one of the sturdiest (and best) pop-rock bands around, but fans still find themselves on the defensive. Call it "MMMBop" syndrome: one ultra-catchy song, released a decade ago, and the Hanson brothers - guitarist Isaac, keyboardist/lead singer Taylor, and drummer Zac - found themselves perpetually frozen in time by the music industry. So they started their own record label, built a buzz via their Web site, and made music the way they wanted. Finally, the never-quite-accurate "boy band" label is starting to fade away. The trio is touring to promote its new CD, the hook-laden, Danny Kortchmar coproduced The Walk. All married men now (yes, even youngest brother Zac, 21), the Hansons are do-gooders, too: proceeds from the first single, "Great Divide," are being donated to African AIDS relief. And for each pair of TOMS shoes sold (including some available at their always dynamic concerts), another pair will be donated to a child in need.
