Boys to men
Post-pubescent popsters return with new material

MMMBoy, what a difference a handful of years makes. Since Hanson released "Middle Of Nowhere" in 1997, Taylor has gotten married, had a kid, and the band's songwriting has has moved beyond bubblegum, collaborating with Carole King and Matthew Sweet.

Isaac, 22, weighs in on Hanson's new look, tattletales and stinky little brothers.

Q: How hard is it going to be for people to get past the band's teeny-bop image?

A: I have no worries about our audience [getting past it] because they grew up with us. And we've never had trouble with critics. All the records we've done, they've been positively received. We had a Rolling Stone review from the last record that was immensely complimentary.

Q: You're the oldest--do you have to "buy" for your brothers all the time?

A: No, I don't. None of us are particularly drinkers. We're all too controlling. I'm too much of a control freak to get drunk.

Q: You guys spend a lot of time in hotels when touring--who's the stinkiest sleeper?

A: Depends on the day. I might go for Zac.

Q: Anybody still do the "I'm telling Mom" stuff? I bet it's Zac.

A: None of us were ever like that. Because there were three boys, there was always this kind of camaraderie. We went and did all the crap together.

Q: Okay. Who lost his virginity first?

A: I'm going to stay away from that one.
