411Mania: Listen To The New Single From Hanson
Apr 07, 2010 |
Hanson boys going back to R&B on fifth studio set...
Hanson will release their new record, Shout It Out, via their own 3CG Records on June 8th. The album was recorded on a farm in El Paso, and was produced and written exclusively by Hanson. The R&B-flavored album features special guests including Funk Brothers bassist Bob Babbitt and horn arranger Jerry Hey, who worked with Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Earth, Wind and Fire and many more.
"The anatomy of our band is similar to a '70s rock band - three guys from the Midwest who grew up listening to '50s and '60s soul, who are mixing guitars, with vintage keys and melodic songs," Taylor Hanson says. Adds Isaac, "We've never stopped aspiring to the great songwriters and performers who struck a chord with us first, that early rock 'n' rock roll and soul music from Chuck Berry to Otis Redding. We've rediscovered that aspiration on this record. There's a little more swing and a little more air."
Check out lead single "Thinking 'Bout Somethin'" below. The song hits iTunes on April 27th. The video is an homage to The Blues Brothers and has a cameo by Weird Al Yankovic.
Hanson will be playing Bamboozle on May 1st, as well as hosting a sold-out five-night engagement at New York City's Blender Theater at the Gramercy. At the NYC shows, Hanson will play a different album, in full, every night, leading up to the premiere of Shout It Out.
