Cool New Xbox Stuff!

Jun 14, 2016 | ZacHanson

E3 is basically the busiest week of the year for new video game news and if you are anything like me you geek out a little watching live streams and YouTube videos of what is coming out.  I have always loved video games but one of the major reasons games continue to fit my fancy is touring.  The tour bus becomes home when we hit the road and even though it can be very luxurious, it is also a small space for 12 people to sleep, work and play in.  Video games have a way of making a small space feel a lot bigger as you can spend your time exploring far off world, and sometime, share the experience through great co-op. Space is a commodity for sure, so when Microsoft announced the much expected new Xbox S I kind of checked my wallet

"How do I feel about buying this?"

I am not sure why others might want or need a smaller Xbox One (besides the fact that it is HUGE), but for me the idea that I could travel with something smaller and lighter would be perfect!  Pounds = Pain

I play Xbox One rather then PlayStation 4 for one main reason... PlayStations controllers are horrible! they are not really designed to fit in a human hand.  Now on the other “hand” the Xbox One controller is.  IT seems like a funny thing, but spend a few weeks playing games on the bus and the controller will become a factor.  I geeked out a when I saw the new build your own controls Microsoft is offering.  I have a lot of controllers, Grears Of War special edition, StarWars Special edition, Halo Special Edition, Blue, Red, Carbon Fiber, I think I cam making my point I like controllers and I can't seem to get enough of them.  When you sit down to play a game with "your controller" it feels different.  See games are best when they are social, but a custom controller is not to be shared.  Yes it is not cheap at $80, but you decide what it looks like, and they make it just for you $20 is a small price to pay for that.

So at the moment here is my list of games I am looking forward to.  This is in no particular order and it subject to change, and is also subject to games getting release dates that I can get excited about.

Games On My Heart list

  • Ghost Recon Wildlands
    • Because I loved Mercenary’s and I enjoy Co-op and I am this might be the game everyone hope The Division would be
  • Gears 4
    • Because Gears has yet to let me down (note never bothered to buy Gears Of War: Judgment)
  • Titan Fall 2
    • Because Titan Fall is a super polished FPS that deserves better then to watch the player base leave for less good games with fresh content
  • For Honor
    • Because I love Dynasty Warriors…. Way too much!
  • Forsa Horizons
    • Because Everyone needs a good racing game everyone and a while, and my copy of Burnout is lost, and no none wants to play Hot Pursuit with me
  • The Last Guardian
    • Because Ico might be my favorite game ever! (I might buy a used PS4 just for this game)
  • Mass Effect Andromeda
    • Because… I got noth
  • Pokemon Go
    • Because I got to catch them all!

You and my father would get along really well. He is also an Xbox guy. Hate to say I prefer Playstation but I can understand the controller thing when you're on the road.

My husband is a PS4 kind of man... My son is an Xbox One kid. I am neither but appreciate these blog posts, they give me a heads up to what the man and child are going to be discussing while I sit back and roll my eyes.

I like how you say "not cheap at $80" you're fortunate you don't have to pay New Zealand prices for games/consoles/controllers etc. $120 for a controller on average. And the husband dares to complain when I spend a fraction of that on Hanson merch, sheesh! *crying laughing emoji*

I've never had an Xbox or played any Xbox games. My sister thinks I'm strange, since she seems to be obsessed with her XBone. What, I like my WiiU and PS3 just fine... and my PS2, and the good ol' Nintendo! Oh, can't forget about the Nintendo 3DS!

Gonna be real with you, I just love our XBox One because I can yell commands at it, and it does things.

Just FYI, it does not bring you a selection of cheeses and wine. No matter how many times, or how firmly you ask.

We've had the XBOX One since it came out - and sadly we mostly use it for NetFlix/Hulu/Amazon Prime because adulting is hard! By the time I get home I don't have it in me to get killed a bizillion times playing Call of Duty...because I totally suck.

Randomly generated Division missions should bring me back to that game for a while.

We Happy Few was the second best thing MS showed. Just hope it actually plays good. Looks like Bioshock with a more insane setting/plot.

Tekken 7's Heihachi vs. Akuma video was the best thing MS showed, but it's Tekken so...I'm sure it'll be fine, but I'm not overly excited about the game itself.

Titanfall 2 is gonna be what I go with for the holidays. Battlefield looks interesting but it comes out within a week of Titanfall. Winner = Titanfall.

Tried the Halo Wars 2 beta. Crashed 4 times before I could even start. Finally got into a game and it disconnected everyone after 10 minutes. Not a good look.

Super disappointed about the lack of backwards compatibility bombs. HOW LONG MUST I WAIT FOR BURNOUT PARADISE.

PS4 stuff looked ok but their conferences are ALWAYS "HEY CHECK OUT THESE AWESOME GAMES! Maybe we'll actually release them someday." MS showings always impress me more because the majority of the stuff shown will actually be in our hands in the next 12 months.

BRING US THE SCORPIO.

Why doesn't anyone want to play Hot Pursuit with you? I don't game very often, but when I do it's racing game for sure. Not bc I'm really good at it though, it's bc I suck at all the rest. :p

Pokémon games will never get old, ever. Period. Except I'm totally more of a handheld gaming person and not into the big screen...! Hopefully all off your games will live up to the expectation and hype!

Hot Pursuit is a rockin game - I don't get to play video games often (because as previously cited "adulting is hard") but racing games and sport games have always been my favorite.  I guess it's my closet competitiveness showing... :D

(Remember: this is coming from someone who as I first read this and viewed the photos, the first and only thing that came to mind immediately seeing the big red X and the cirles..  was a game I played and loved as a kid called TIC TAC TOE where you throw little bean bags from a distance and try to turn over the X's and O's to get tic tac toe and win. Hahaha) truth.

My son works for Daybreak Games and his company sent him to E3, he's there today in LA. This is his dream job! He tried to make it as a musician, but had to find a way to support himself. We'll see what he comes home with!

I tried gaming a few times. Racing a go cart. It didn't work out too good! My hand/eye coordination leaves a lot to be desired! Most of the gaming around here is either in somebody's freezer or mounted on a wall and has antlers!

Even though I do prefer my PS4 over Xbox...I do totally agree about the controllers! Even more so because im small (and so are my hands) I'm used to it now but it drove me nuts when I first got my PS4. Very awkward.

NFS Hot Pursuit is still rad. Which makes sense due to a lot of the Criterion (Burnout Paradise/Revenge) guys working on it.

correction..(yeah, I am one of those perfectionist, who as silly as it might be, when makes a mistake finds the need to have to correct it ;)

..it was a little early for me when I responded this morning to this blog and now that I am awake..I think the game I was called referring to was called Toss Across originally not Tic Tac Toe (I know you care to know that!haha)

I have wondered on occasion why you play Xbox's, I must say the PS3 controllers I use are okay but I am not usually playing for hours a day while trucking down the road. The Xbox ones are more user friendly and as far as custom controller - I'll agree. Well worth the 80.00 price tag for something that is truly yours and fits your hands/feel/wants!

Zac: "Because Everyone needs a good racing game everyone and a while, and my copy of Burnout is lost, and no none wants to play Hot Pursuit with me"

I 100% agree and you are very wrong about "no one wants to" because I'd totally play Hot Pursuit with you for as long as I could. I'd have to get a Xbox, set it up, and buy the game but hey, my husband HAS been talking about getting one...

@CaptainAmerica - I think of the NFS games I have, Hot Pursuit is one of the only ones where I played until everything was beaten. I <3 that game and Most Wanted. I really want the new Most Wanted but..I'll have to upgrade systems for that.

Why is Battlefield one not on your heart list?

Posted Jun 15, 2016   01:35:42 PM

my husband was just talking about the new white Xbox the other night. Not sure we need another one (we have a 360 in the bedroom and a one in the living room) He still wants it though.
