The FUTURE IS Coming!

We are getting very close on a new design of Hanson.net, and I thought this might be a nice time to share a few screen caps of the new look, so maybe all of you can feel some of the excitment I do about the new design.

There are three major things we wanted to do with the new design, that hopefully will make it more enjoyable to spend time on the site.

  • Mobile Friendly
    • The current design is not very enjoyable to look at from your phone or tablet, or for that matter is it easy to browse if you have any visual difficulties. The new  design is very high contrast, and browser responsive. That means whatever size your viewing window is, you get a customized experience. Phone check, Tablet check, small laptop check, giant desktop computer.... Get with the times man!
  • Streamlined
    • We want it to be easy to find whatever you're looking for, music, news, blog, concerts, events. We are sliming down the navigation, eliminating content divisions, and instead putting like with like. We think having fewer, fuller sections will give everyone a better experience.
  • Clean Palette
    • The last thing is the look. We have 25+ years of designs. Fonts, Photos and textures that all have to live together in one place. Between May and June alone we are celebrating HANSON Day 2020, Back To The Island 2021 on-sale, This Time Around's 20th anniversary and Shout It Out hitting the big 10 mark. It may seem plain to some, but having a clean palette that can host whatever art ideas come next was a big goal and we're feeling good about where we ended up.

We are by no means finished. Internal testing has just begun, followed by small batches of members joining the test team in June and then launch... well rather than using the S word (soon), I am just going to say the site will launch when it's ready.

I work in the media/digital space, so I'm also happy to volunteer/test the functionality of the new site when the time comes.

Looks awesome! And I would second Leah131313's suggestion -  being able to reply to other comments would be helpful!

Oooh looks so clean and tidy.  Very nice :).

I hope there will be a new, improved, easier to use "search for friends" function when the new site design goes live. ;)

As someone who has worked on a few websites, I find the look of the new site great! And you're right, clean sites are easy to navigate, providing users with a much more pleasant experience. Love the masonry grid for the gallery page! Have fun with your new toy, Zac!

It all looks like a definite improvement.  I’m looking forward to the day ticket buying on site (when, there’s actually something to buy tickets for) becomes a stress-free endeavor.  (I can’t stop myself from hoping for the return of “in person” concerts.)

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on what’s happening behind-the-scenes, Zac.

Looks good! And I love the mobile friendliness! If you could also allow a password that doesn’t require a Pentagaon level of security that’d be great.

with function to delete private messages, please.

@isasafira you should be able to delete private messages. There's a box to the right of "unread." You can click the box, and above at the column there are the words "delete." It will prompt and ask if you are sure you want to delete it. Click yes, and voila!

I would choose more eye catching colors than just black and white . Also I hope we don’t lose our pins , but I’m glad it will work on apple stuff better

Question: will we have to make a new password for our account?
