Another busy one here at HANSON HQ

Mar 30, 2018 | HANSON

This week is shaping up to be another busy one here at HANSON HQ. Last week the public on-sale of Back To The Island 2019 began and within a couple days it was SOLD OUT! I guess there are a lot of people like us that want to go…Back to the Island. Back stateside, we have been enjoying hearing from fans all over the US about their excitement and curiosity for our new musical project String Theory which is officially coming to Virginia, Pennsylvania and Oklahoma…so far. Inside the war room at the studio we have been deep in the brother cave as we record and write the new music for this years HANSON.Net EP. No matter how many times we try and plan for what the EP’s will sound like it seems we always go an unexpected direction once the heat is on…we think you will like it. A reminder to many of you who have been members (or are), you have to be a member to join us for BTTI or to get this new music and as the events for the year go on-sale, those members only lines and pre-sales are only for members so basically if you’re a member, you are winning. Isaac actually let his membership lapse so he’s not getting the new EP :o). Here in Tulsa, we are preparing to host what will be our best and biggest HANSON Day event (May 17-19th) and last week we officially announced this year's Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival on May 20th, the Sunday following HANSON Day. THJ brings together a massive craft beer selection (75+ brewers) and an epic music festival. This will be our fifth year to host it and it’s just getting better, which is one more reason we hope to see you on Main Street in May. Happy Easter to all who are celebrating this weekend.

Have a great week.

Isaac, Taylor and Zac

I do know that Hop Jam was aimed to be a non-Hanson thing. Of course that doesn't really answer the question, but why wouldn't people just go to enjoy the music that is featured, regardless of whether or not Hanson plays.? Just a thought...

Don't worry, lots of people do. I've actually discovered at least one band I really liked every time I've been to the Hop Jam, including some bands/musicians I loved enough to go and see them again at their own headlining shows (Jamestown Revival, John Moreland), so I'm really looking forward to seeing a list of all the artists who will be playing. And in other years, some of the bands definitely seemed to draw their own crowds of people who weren't necessarily Hanson fans. But logically, most Hanson fans who will be in Tulsa that weekend are also eager to find out if Hanson will be performing.

I think most of us do, Robyn.  I consider it an added bonus (and it *is* exciting) when they do play, but I've enjoyed the majority of the other bands / artists we've seen at the Hop Jam.  I'm looking forward to the announcement of this year's lineup...

Oh no! Isaac has no idea what precious material he is missing, all that riffs and rock and the strong guitarist voice Lol

I can't wait to hear what other bands will be playing, they always chose some great bands I never seen before. When Hanson doesn't play it just doesn't feel the same to me but I still go to see the other bands.

@Robin, many people do go and and enjoy whatever music there is, but Hanson fans also take whether Hanson is playing into consideration because of travel plans.  Staying to watch Hanson play - which is always late Sunday night - means you have to stay another night in the hotel/airbnb (which costs more money), usually take another day off of work (which costs another day of vacation), and, for many fans, book a flight out on Monday rather than Sunday (which requires advance planning and purchase).  Fans need to know if Hanson is playing so they can budget for all of that.  They're willing to put out a little extra time and money and take advantage of already being in Tulsa to hear Hanson play one more time (at an outdoor concert that totally rocks!), but if Hanson isn't going to play, then they don't necessarily want to spend more money and use another vacation day (when they've already spent a lot just to get to Hanson Day) to hear bands that they don't know if they'll even like.  They'd rather put that money toward hearing/seeing Hanson in another city later during the year.   Yeah, if you stay whether Hanson plays of not, you might end up hearing some cool bands, but at a price you're not really willing to pay (hotel/vacation day).

Oh dear Hanson, if only you knew I´m a h.net member only for your EPs... I´m from Uruguay, you´ve never come to play here... you´ve been to Argentina I think 3 or 4 times but the first time I was able to go was last August. My first (and only so far) Hanson  concert in 20 years of being a fan! I´m telling you this not to feel sorry about me but to consider fans who are in the same situation as me (there are hundreds) and release a DVD of the String Theory concerts or anything you think fans who can´t go will find memorable... It´s just a crazy idea! I know that in the end we ( h.net members) always win! I REALLY REALLY LOVE YOUR MUSIC! (I am saying that, not Isaac... ´really really´ get it? he always says ´really really´)
