Zac 2.0

Today I became aware of a few things where people were faking to be us, and I feel compelled to make sure you know the truth.

We have no baby registries with any websites or anything of that sort. I came across a fake registry on Babys R Us and was very sad to see that someone was faking to be us. I saw that many had bought gifts for us from there, and I want to thank you for the gifts, and apologize that we will not be able to thank you individually since we will not receive those gifts if they were bought online. And I hope that you are able to contact the store and get your money back.

I also was alerted to some photos that someone is trying to pass off as pictures of the new addition. Those pictures are fakes. We are so happy that he is finally here, and when the time comes we will show him off proudly, but for the moment know that all of his pictures are in an air tight underwater vault.

Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers.
Happy Hanson Day

Thank you all for being fans for 11 years! We have had a wonderful year meeting so many of you at concerts and as we have been "Taking The Walk". We have been blown away watching how many people have been willing to take off their shoes, and spend a little time outside of their comfort zone. So many of you have begun setting up "Walks" of your own, raising money thru things like bracelets, buttons, T-shirts, and deciding to travel half way around the world and devote your time energy and heart to making a difference for people who can’t help themselves.

Thank you for being inspiring people, and for providing us with colors, stories and tools to keep making music year after year.

Isaac, Taylor, Zac

The Bullet

Someone found a bullet in the front row.

In a situation like tonight you find yourself thinking… how much do I trust our fans? How hardcore is too hardcore… But to be honest we trust all of you to watch our back even if it turns out there is someone who has it out for us. I would not want to be the person who was on the wrong end of a pissed off Hanson fan.

It was a great show and even with the way the night started, and about halfway through the set when we found out where the bullet came from (off duty cop) we were able to stop looking for the best cover we could dive to. In the end we had a great time. Here is to not being made into Swiss Cheese.
The Walk Tour Spring 2008

It has been way to long (3 months) since we were on the road, and though 3 months is not that long it feels like it because we have not been able move forward with the missions of "The Walk Tour". Poverty and AIDS in Africa are a daunting issue but I know that together we can make waves in the world to at the very least give children (the next generation) a chance to not be born with a deadly disease. Things like the "Great Divide" single on iTunes, the "Great Divide" T-shirt, and now the HANSON TOMS Shoe (that includes a download card with exclusive HANSON music) are giving shoes to kids in need and money for HIV/AIDS treatment and research. All these things are making a real difference in kids lives.

So now we continue our walk... and there is a lot more to come.

Thank you for you support on "The Walk Tour". See you on the road starting in LaCrosse WI barefoot and ready to walk a mile in someone else's shoes (or lack there of).

Gamble and Huff

They wrote songs like Back Stabbers, Ooh Child and Love Train amongst many others. It was a very inspiring thing when Huff sat down at the piano and began to play through songs as the audience would ask questions about anyone of the countless hits they have written. The way they talked about the music they made was in so many ways similar to the way we look at what we write and record. They talked about the fact that they write songs about real life, about things that they feel people can relate to. They talked about the fact that when it all comes down to it, a great song, great music is all that is going to matter no matter 1970s, 80s, 2000s… The way to become successful is through timeless songs. Wow! Now all we have to do is write timeless songs, hahahaha! It was exciting to hear them talk about the community of writers and musicians that were fueling each other and then to think about the things we are doing to create a similar effect around us, like Fools Banquet. Here’s to hoping we can tap into some of what fueled them to create so many timeless soul songs.

Link to Wiki Page

The End of the first leg of The Walk Tour

The plan was to talk about TOM’S Shoes, and the idea of taking action in our everyday life. Whether it’s the shoes you wear, the job you take, the company you start, or the things you buy, we can all find ways to incorporate giving into the way we live. After 37 one mile walks, we reached our goal of helping TOM’S sell 50,000 pairs of shoes. It is so gratifying to be able to say that. So many of you who have been a part of taking walks, and/or buying shoes, this is all made possible because of your passion. We stopped the tour and went with TOM’S to put the shoes all of you purchased on the feet of boys and girls in South Africa.

We visited schools and orphanages throughout South Africa putting shoes on kids’ feet, and at the same time being treated to their stories and songs. There was always a wonderful celebration everywhere we went after we finished giving out the shoes.

But still, it was bittersweet when you begin to understand the challenges they are facing everyday, and how much is needed.

We came back to the States and started The Walk Tour back up. (Just because we reached our first goal, does not mean the need is gone.) It was almost like Mother Nature was trying to stop us from walking. There was snow, ice, and freezing temperatures in the teens but the walks continued. These walks in the snow have been the greatest testament to the passion all of you have shown through out this tour. To walk when in is 11°F, when there is freezing rain – that, in so many ways, is what the walk is all about. We have to be leaders, all of us. We need to require ourselves to be the greatest generation yet. It is not about guilt, it is about empowerment! We have more tools at our fingertips than any one other group of people has ever had, and we need to use them.

45 miles down, and this is only the beginning for us. We hope to see all of you next year as The Walk Tour continues.

Isaac, Taylor, Zac

Hamilton, CA... "Watch Me Bleed"

Man this is just the week of spilling blood in the name of ROCK! First Zac's arm on Thursday in Bloomington, Indiana.

Then at the show on Monday in Hamilton, Taylor rips his finger open on the piano.

Don’t worry he is fine, it looks worse than it is.

It happened during Everybody Knows the Claus (second to last song) I guess the combination of it being the end of the show and bringing in the Christmas cheer was a little too much for Taylor’s fingers. After we came off stage before the encore, Urrrrr I started looking at Taylor’s hand and man the queasy feeling hit me bad. We decided to change the set and finish out with “Ugly Truth” which has no piano (the prudent thing to do) and also a nice way to end, if I do say so myself.

The walk went well. It was colder than Toronto, but at least we were walking through snow and ice, instead of sludge and ice water. We finished our mile, cold but not too wet, but still cold. Walking in the snow makes me think about what people are conditioned to. I walk outside for a minute and I am freezing, but some people are camping overnight, or waiting in line for hours and seem to be cool with it! Isaac

Raising 15,000 dollars

The DD Dilwayo School was where the South African choir that sang on The Walk was from. They were the ones responsible for the intro to the album (Ngi Nethemba). On this last trip to Africa with TOM’S we decided to visit the school and meet with the teachers and staff. After going there Bryan Johnson the photographer who was with us started talking about trying to raise money for the school.

Bryan started selling his own t-shirts and giving all the proceeds to the DD Dilwayo school. After 24 hours he had already raised over 2,000 dollars.

After four days, on the day we were leaving to go back to the states, we able to give the school a check for 15,000 dollars. Thank you for being a part and helping us reach our goals.

Giving the Check
