"I'm not going even though I like their music because, I feel like I’m just paying for them to have more kids",….wow I am not sure how to respond to this.  I guess I would say that you have concerns about the cost of education, how many children people choose to have, and how much people make.  These are all personal aspects of people’s lives and they have nothing to do with you.  However, when you go to the local Wal-Mart and buy stuff the cashiers are getting paid to ring you out.  Yet I don’t think how much they make or how many kids they have concerns you......only Hanson....wow!  When people choose a career path they have a desired amount of income they wish to make…this income may lead them to live in comfort, luxury, or sadly poverty.  Considering that Hannah Montana tickets were selling for $1,000, and she probably won’t get a college education that she has to pay for, why complain about a mere $25.  It’s your personal problem if you cant afford to pay $25…simple solution….don't go.  It took me 9 years to see Hanson because I was paying for my college education and I couldn’t afford to take a road trip and pay $25 per ticket.  Logic told me that $25 was food for a week....not a concert ticket.  Not to mention have you ever gone to a NFL, MLB, NHL or even major college sporting events?  Any idea what those athletes get paid….well its in the millions per year.  Think about it!   Secondly did anyone ever think that Hanson has chosen not to be a part of the machine known as the main stream music industry?  I think that they are SO much better as indie.  I think that is truly where they need to be.  They are able to control their career on a personal and course professional level, which otherwise may have been controlled my main stream media companies.

I agree completely.

and as far a ticket prices are concerned of course they went up in the last ten years.. everything has gone up in price in the last ten years. I'm sure the cost of them actually going on tour is costing them more this day (gas, food, etc.) so it's only natural that the price of the tickets go up.

I can tell you that I have seen Hanson over 30 times now and unless I have something absolutely holding me back there is nothing that won't stop me from seeing them. I have lived all over the states, but I have traveled endless amounts of miles to see Hanson and many other bands (I have seen ingram hill over 60 times in at least 10+ states). My reason for going is because Hanson is an amazing band and they know how to put on a good show. I have never once been disappointed after seeing them. I mean sure they don't play the songs you want to hear, but they can't please everyone. But my number one reason for traveling all over this country is because I get to see a ton of friends I don't get to see very often especially if they live on the complete opposite side of the country. Let me put it this way, if there's a good rock show going on, wherever it is, I'll be there to listen.

It's all about the music and my love for it. I get to sing along, dance and just put my life on the backburner for a few hours and lose myself in the music. Sounds cheesy, but it is what it is.

It is SO crazy that a thread like this would pop up because I am DESPERATELY trying to sell my two tickets to the Cleveland show on Sept. 29.  My husband called me earlier this evening from Iraq to let me know that he is coming home for his two weeks leave on - SURPRISE!! - Sept. 29.  So as much as I LOVE Hanson, my husband is way more important.

Yay for Meet and Greets!!  Thank you so much!!!

If my brother was in Iraq and I was going to see a show and he came home for his 2 weeks leave I wouldn't go for sure. Now that I think about it I did leave when he was home on his 2 week leave, but he was in seattle visiting my mom (i lived in l.a. at the time), so it was good timing for him and i to go out of town and I got to see him for a week and then before he left.

That response was actually really quite touching...

There's nothing wrong with not wanting to go to any numbers of shows or a single show if you have any reason not too. Hanson isn't forcing anyone to go.

But if you think your paying for their kids education by going to a show your mistaken. The fact is they are millionares, how much they have only they know. They were asked once in an interview if they have a million dollars and all they would say is yes. It's not something they normally like to talk about publicly. They said they had the right people around them in the early years that told them how to invest really well when they first had a hit. So I'm sure that moeny is still working for them in some way. But that doesn't mean they don't need to continue to do shows, they have to continuing because any artists need that to survive in the business. There are multiple expenses to travel all over the country and to other countires when they decide to do it.

I guess the cost of tickets is different in different parts of the country but Hanson's is probably still some of the cheapest that can be found. Hanson has no control over all the added charges that ticketmaster adds to them. Sure there might be some bands that charge less but not many.

Many fans do anything they can to go to as many shows as possible because they love the music and want to see Hanson as much as they can. But really going to all the shows on a tour, going to 20 shows or even just two doesn't make anyone a better fan then those that don't have the money or the means to get to where Hanson is playing because they live to far away from a city or in another country where Hanson doesn't go as often. A fan is a fan because they love the music.

So fans can chose to do whatever they want, but hopefully the main reason a fan wants to go to a show or multiple ones is because they love the music and they want to be there to see them live.

Bang on Shari, beautifully put...

I would never miss a show by choice unless abosolutely necessary (like someone mentioned her hubby coming home from Iraq). Having the mindset that you are just paying for their families is just silly. So matter what you buy, you are paying for someone's family! And I don't think Hanson is the type to just do it for the money.

First of all: Hi, I'm new Smile Never thought I'd join this forum but here I just felt compelled to after reading this post!

Second of all, I can't BELIEVE how many usernames I had to try before I found one that hadn't been taken already!! I swear I had to try my name inside out and back to front...

Thirdly did I really read that the ticket prices to Hanson's concerts are $40-$50?!! SERIOUSLY?! Because that is so cheap!! Is that normal for US artists to charge that type of amount when they tour their own country? I only ask because I'm from New Zealand and over here we have to pay usually $100 for one concert! So US$50 works out to roughly NZ$100 and people here would pay that without complaint. And did someone say they were once $25?! That's what we have to pay here to go to a football game!!

I think I need to move to America.

P.s I am so glad The Veronicas are opening for them in some of their concerts. I love those girls Wink

After this tour, I think I will take a break from Hanson concerts because I've been to three concerts in two years, which is a lot for me and my family.

This kills me.  Fans complain when Hanson don't tour, then they complain because they "tour too much," and they "think we're all made of money."  There's an easy solution to the not being able to afford concerts---Don't go.  Or go to ONE instead of half a dozen.

And saying that you don't want to compensate Hanson for providing us w/ this wonderful music because it all goes to their kids is just plain idiotic.  This is their JOB.  That would be like your boss saying, "Gee, I would love to pay you for your hard work, but I just know you're going to spend it on bills."  Get a clue.

Sorry, just not comfortable giving money for their 45 ankle biters.

Wow. So...do you only go to see entertainers who are childless? Or have one or two children? What's the maximum number of children someone can have where you'd still feel comfortable seeing them? Are you more comfortable seeing entertainers who don't have kids, but who spend their money on partying and drugs than you are on entertainers who spend their money on family and helping families in Africa?

If you like their music and you want to see a show, go to it...if you can't afford it or aren't that into their music or you have something to do that night, don't go.

But why make value judgements about their personal lives? They have the right to have families, and they seem to be good people who would be positive forces as parents, don't they?
