Not going...by choice

Over the last few weeks, we've all seen the threads where people complained because Hanson didn't schedule a tour stop here, there, or elsewhere.  There have also been threads where others post where they're going and how many different concerts they've been to.

Is there anyone who specifically chooses not to go to a concert?  And not because they don't like the venue or city or because they have scheduling conflicts (class, jobs, kids).  Are there people who, if someone handed them a pair of tickets, would turn them down?

If you are one of these people, say so, and leave a reason.  I'll tell mine in time, I just don't want to make this an overly-long post. :)

Kristin

Have yet to see Hanson

And she says please.....

Sure! I mean, now that I think about it, Hanson is my pride and joy and all, but there are probably people out there who need the tickets more than me. I mean, I've never been to any concerts yet, so I am definitely not giving up my tickets for my first concert in October, but I think there are people who have waited forever and deserve some tickets.Especially those people who have been to a million shows and had a meet and greet, they should be willing to give up their tickets for people who are less unfortunate. I would definitely give up my tickets later on once I get to see them a few times. But for now, no, I am not giving up my tickets, lol, because I have never been before.

Me...I want to, but can't. Now, if someone I knew was to magically hand me free tickets to a show that was super close I would have to seriously consider it, but even then if it was conflicting with something I needed to do I wouldn’t go. I’ll go see Hanson again (I saw them one time in '97) one day (hopefully many more concerts), but when the timing is right.

SmileI'm wishing Hanson happiness & some much deserved Respect.

i have actually done this before... i although not for this tour. being that i live in New York (close to the city) and they pretty much come here every chance they get i have had many other times where i could have done but just choose not to because i did not have money or i was out of the state (i lived in iowa for 2 1/2 years) or it just was not weighing heavily on my mind. i was actually at camp one particular week that hanson was storming NYC and i did not even know about it until...after i came back. there have just been periods of time where mylife has been hectic and i have much appericated those around me more than anything else. i love hanson and i would love to meet them but its just not always as important sometimes.
THANKS FOR THE M&G it meant everything to me
this tour: 10/20 10/25(MG) 11/1

i've found hope in Jesus

LA, SD and Anaheim are all close to me but I'm not going this tour. I'm not excited by their shows anymore at all. And I feel like when I buy the ticket, I'm basically just putting money in their pockets for their children.

My mom and I said that yesterday after the announcement of Taylor/Natalie baby #4... That they keep touring because they're gonna have seven college funds to pay for. Haha.

I thought about not going to the show in New York, and just going to the walk there instead. I can get to and from New York for cheap, but the cost of the concert ticket and hotel is pretty insane. It's do-able... but insane. It's crazy that this thought has even crossed my mind because I've been waiting for The Walk Tour to hit NYC, but I think I was always more excited for the actual walk in NYC than the show.

So, I don't know what I'm doing.

It's true though. I have a lot of.....not the nicest things to say about certain people who share their last name, but I won't say them here. But it's like, is that the only reason they keep the whole Hanson machine running? So they can keep having all these kids?

I turned down tickets back during the TTA Tour in 00...  My friend and I got into a fight and I refused to go to the show with her.  I wanted to pay for a cab to get around NYC b/c I wasn't familiar with the city at the time.  She insisted upon taking a subway, which NEITHER of us really knew how to work our way around.  I told her I wanted to be safe, and told her I would pay for our cab fare BOTH WAYS and she still refused.  (She's controlling).

I told her to keep the tickets and I'd go see them some other time.  It came down to the principle of the matter and I wouldn't give in.

But, that might not even have anything to do with it. They enjoy making music and performing for their fans, and yes, they probably get a lot of money, but getting money just to have kids is probably not the case for them. If that were the case, they would have like 10 kids each.Plus, it's nice to keep the family growing so their kids can have kids and such. I think it's nice that they tour for us, because think about it, they don't have to do it, they choose to do it for us, the fans.

I have no doubt that they love it, and I love it when they tour. I went to five shows on the last leg and had the time of my life. But because they keep touring so close together, and they keep hitting up the same areas, it makes me think that they think we're all made of money... and they have no doubt that we'll do whatever it takes to get to their shows.

The prices are getting ridiculous, though. I only have tickets to two shows and they're $95 total. About $25-$30 in that is service charges, but still. Ahh. It's nuts.

I don't doubt that they like it either, but it becomes exhausting at a certain point. I've been to shows that didn't start till close to 11pm. Add that with the time that it takes to travel, and the energy that gets sucked out of you by being around 1000 chicks that can be so annoying you want to kick them in the mouth, and attending becomes questionable.

Im a newer fan I guess you could say and will be going to my second hanson concert in october. so because im a newer fan, i will most likely continue going to their concerts. they put on such a great live show! im going to my second hanson concert in october and im psyched!

what other reasons would you choose not to go unless you couldnt find a way there, you had something else planned for that day or just another scheduling conflict?

i know the only reason i would NOT go to a hanson show would be:

1) if they were playing WAY to far way from where i live.

2) if i couldnt find a way to get there. (i dont drive on the highway and im afraid of traveling by myself.)

3) if their ticket prices went up. (which i dont ever see that happening. at least i hope not!)

4) if i had something planned the day of a show that absolutely could not miss like a wedding or something.

I've been going to shows since the alberane tour, and that's already happened.

My stub for the Albertane Tour says $25... and that was in an arena. You can't even see them at crap little places like the Croc Rock for that price anymore. Ha. I don't know how much say Hanson actually has in the price of tickets, but if they have any input, they really should try to put a stop to this $40/$50 a show nonsense.

i'll take it on the rocks

i was joking around saying it's a good thing they're not coming to Toronto, (as much as i want them to), because I can pay for my own education and not Ezra's.

Honestly, I'm sure they have made enough money over the years that they could quit now and still raise their kids and send them all to med school...and their grandkids too.  So I seriously doubt that's why they are touring.

I'd like to think I would, but you and I both know that won't happen! I am skipping 12 days of school this semester because I "need" to see Hanson. hahaha

Once should be enough, but it's not. I fell bad about it, but now that I've been to more I can't stop. They seriously are like drugs, I can go to one, ok two, THREE MAX! Then it turns into 11...

Actually, I doubt Hanson makes as much money as we think they make. Being independent, they don't have other people (besides their fans) to pay for their expenses. They're on their own. Do they have enough money to quit today and live comfortably? Probably. But as for being able to send their kids and grandkids to med school, that's exaggerating.
